Description

The School of Business and Economics of the University of Chile (with the support of the Central Bank of Chile and the Millennium Institute for Research in Market Imperfections and Public Policy) is proud to be organizing the 2021 edition of the Santiago Finance Workshop (SFW), which will be held on December 6–7, 2021 in Santiago, Chile. We invite scholars and researchers to submit papers on any topic belonging to the fields of Finance or Financial Economics by July 31st, 2021.

We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker will be:
- Prof. Ron Kaniel (University of Rochester), Co-Editor of the Journal of Financial Economics.

The University of Chile is one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America, and the aim of its workshop is to bring together academics and policymakers from all around the world to discuss new empirical and theoretical research on financial issues.

The five previous editions of the workshop took place between 2015 and 2019 (the SFW 2020 was canceled due to the global pandemic) and sparked stimulating discussions and welcomed outstanding keynote speakers, including Prof. Itay Goldstein, Prof. Toni M. Whited, Prof. Stefan Nagel, Prof. Andrew Karolyi, Prof. Franklin Allen, Prof. Michael Brennan, and Prof. Eduardo Schwartz.

The workshop is expected to take place in person in Santiago, Chile if the sanitary situation allows it. The SFW’s Organizing Committee will cover all presenters’ airfares (economy class) to Santiago, as well as their accommodation costs during their stay. Participants will be expected to stay for the entire duration of the conference. Nonetheless, should it be required due to the pandemic, the SFW may follow a hybrid format this year and take place both online and in Santiago.

Authors of accepted papers will be notified by August 31st, 2021.
